HELL AND HEAVEN OF A PARTY !!!

HEY BLOGGERS,
I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT WRITING A BLOG "SINCE FOREVER" BUT TODAY I GOT AN ABSOLUTELY FAB TOPIC ....ITS ABOUT A FRESHERS PARTY ORGANISED BY US "I MEAN MY CLASSMATES"
I  know how college parties can b boring n dull ...but not this one !! it was vibrant colorful and amazing ....we spent almost a month planning this thing .... it wasnt easy .
We wanted to do things little hatke !! n we decided on having a theme party !! I know it is not hatke there are already theme parties thrown abundantly in hyderabad ....but its quite new to GEETHANJALI COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY , PHARMACY ....
Never in the history of my college (i belong to the branch pharmacy ) have i ever seen a theme party ....so we decided to have HELL AND HEAVEN THEME ....
The creative heads i.e my best buddy NAVEENA AND I ( SNIGDHA) ,went shopping for the required materials along with DHANU ,PRASHANTH ,NITHIN,AND VENKAT  who were also a part of decoration committee ....we roamed till our legs were numb ...but had a lot of fun !!

our classmates were quite supportive to the plans we had in our minds and helped us through out the program . we made red and white coloured pom poms to give it an illusion of heaven along with white tulle net and to represent hell i made a rough design on a cardboard and gave it as a template to my classmates to cut bats out of black charts .....and the lovely girls of my class were happy to help !! The boys were busy in making the room dark with black covers for a lil effect..

we had various programs like a ramp walk to decide the angel for the day (girl ) and devil of the day (boy ) and fun games like pictionary , rope pulling etc ...to bring out the childishness in our juniors i planned a small and silly dance for them with the support of my classmates ,we were successful in bringing out the childishness in our juniors .
The most fun part was welcoming freshers ... we ordered 100 head bands and stuck lil stars on top of it so that the girls would look like lil angelic !! we stood near the entrance door and welcomed everyone with pomp and joy !
we had an awesome and lip smacking lunch in arranged in the pharmacy ground and had a session of rope pulling .... we then crowned the winners of the ramp walk and had the most xciting part of the whole program ....the DJ !!

THE MOST CREATIVE: we did not use a banner to title the even ...we just made juniors to dip their hands in a little bit of color and put it on a white cloth which we then used it as the center piece ....which created an element of surprise and we called it the wall of unity  !! all in all it was a grand freshers geethanjali has ever known (on campus ) as agreed by secretary sir !! great day !! great memory !

MERRY CRAFTMAS ( DIY WREATH )

JINGLE ALL THE WAY !!
 HEY FOLKS,
I know CHRISTMAS is yet to come ,but i cant resist the excitement . I love this time of the month ...when everything around you is glittering and sparkling ,  stars in the balcony of houses and creatively decorated christmas tree !!! aww.... giving me goosebumps . I know the festivities are yet to start but it sure feels blissful and joyous when i think about it . I absolutely agree this is the most expensive month of the year with CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR in the same month . So, i got a tad bit creative and tried to pull some ideas from pintrest and try it at home . What is the point of getting store bought things and decorating your home .... put a lil' piece of you in the decorations and TRUST ME , you'll surely feel amazing !!

Now I am going to share with you folks the wreath i made at home !! it was absolutely fun to make and did not cost me a dime !! I just used the things that were lying around in my house !!

                                    IT'S A WREATH !!
THINGS YOU'LL NEED :

- PAPER PLATE
- SCISSORS
- OLD BOOK ( TO BE RIPPED OUT )
- LOTS OF GLUE
- DECORATIVE ELEMENTS
- AND ALL YOUR BASIC CRAFT SUPPLIES
 - AND TAPE .

MY LIL' CRAFT SUPPLIES BAG  !! JUST CANT DO WITH OUT IT !!
STEP 1 : Rip out the binding of an old book !! make sure it is an old book so that the wreath you
make looks vintage and has a rugged effect .

STEP 2:   Make cones out of the ripped pages of the book . you may have to make quite a few . It may take some time and the no. of cone will depend on the size of the plate !
the cone !!

STEP 3:  Depending on the size of my plate i made 30 cones approximately
STEP 4 :  Mark the center of the plate and start sticking the cones on the wrong side of the paper plate . Make sure that the pointy end of the cone coincides with the marked center of the plate .
NOTE: ADD LOTS OF GLUE TO  STICK THE CONES TO THE PLATE SO THE CONES DO NOT FALL OFF THE ARRANGEMENT

Go all around the center point and stick all the the cones so that no gap prevails in between them .

If you are satisfied with the outcome of the wreath then you can stop . But if you still have the paper cones left and wanna make your wreath even more puffy then add extra cones here and there to give it a nicer look .

you  can lastly add decorative elements like bells, ribbons , flowers, etc in the middle to give it a more chrismassy effect ....

HERE IS WHAT MY WREATH LOOKS LIKE ...LASTLY ADD A STRING AT THE BACK BY PUNCH ING HOLES IN THE PAPER PLATE AND THERE YOU HAVE ...A CHRISTMAS WREATH !!

CAN EVEN ADD A SMALL LED LIGHT IN THE CENTRE

DO TRY IT ..IT IS COST EFFECTIVE AND ABSOLUTELY FUN ! IF YOU HAVE A CREATIVE MIND AND LOADS OF TIME THEN YOU CAN MAKE A BETTER ONE .

HAPPY DIY-ing !!

A VEGETARIAN THANKSGIVING !

IT'S FOURTH WEEK OF NOVEMBER : IT'S TIME FOR THANKSGIVING !!
I know technically in INDIA we don't celebrate thanksgiving .....but, there is no perfect time for having a festive meal with your family and friends . And THANKSGIVING gave another opportunity to get back with my  family and  to have a lovely time !! We generally do not celebrate thanksgiving at home ( as it is an american holiday ) but suddenly i had an idea that " I may not b a pilgrim or a native but there are lots of things to give thanks to " so, i arranged for a small get together at my home !!
My mom and I put our head's together to decide the cuisine of the day ...and there we were with our final menu's .
1.vegetarian biryani
2. gobhi tandoori
and we decided to go a bit continental on the third dish
3. cream of potato soup .

I made sure that the invites were sent and my dad and brother were at home by the time we started the meal .
My mom and I started cooking ...we had a nice time cooking together .When i was younger I din't like cooking very much ,I thought  it was hectic and tedious but as the time passed by i got interested and learnt that its a very fine art !
BIRYANI !!
It is not really easy to cook a dum biryani .It gets burnt ,the rice doesn't cook properly ,it becomes very dry,it gets over spiced etc etc ..... so many troubles ....phewww ,,,
As i had my mom's expert guidance who is an excellent cook ,I was sure that my dish would dish out well (no pun intended) ........it was like a pressure test on masterchef and MATT PRESTON was the judge .....at last the biryani was done !!

MY GOBHI -TURKEY !!
I know that every thanksgiving dinner is pivoted around the center piece "THE TURKEY ", but as i already mentioned that it was " A VEGETARIAN THANKSGIVING " we got a bit creative and started to collect the ingredients for tandoori gobhi !! BEING AN INDIAN we opted for the dish that is cooked in every PUNJABI household the tandoori !!
This dish bought to the table the essence of thanks giving ! it almost looked like a real turkey and tasted even better .
cream of potato soup !!
This soup was a continental touch to our otherwise indian cuisine . It was a simple recipe that i saw on one of the websites (thanks to internet ) :p and was finished in few minutes ,but the taste was mindblowingly good !

It took four hours for us to put together this meal and when we were done we felt relieved that the dinner was done ... everyone were at the dinner table by 7  and the dinner was served !! we had a hearty meal and all the dishes turned out well and we had a festive dinner and a festive time .
CARVING THE VEG-TURKEY :P

IN FACT I WAS THANKFUL TO HAVE A LOVING AND CARING FAMILY AND AWESOME FRIENDS WHO WOULD TAKE A BULLET FOR ME IF NEEDED .
EVEN IF IT WAS'NT AN INDIAN TRADITION I WAS GLAD TO CELEBRATE IT AND WILL ALWAYS CHERISH THE MEMORIES OF "THE TIME I CELEBRATED THE-NOT -SO-INDIAN -HOLIDAY " JUST TO HAVE A HAPPY TIME WITH MY DEAR ONES !!
THAT WAS MY VEGETARIAN THANKSGIVING !!

NO POCKET MONEY ?? NO PROBLEM !!

HEY GUYS,
I KNOW IT IS END OF THE MONTH !! and everyone is running out of pocket money !! , we feel as if life is taking a dull turn at the end of every month , and if you people are shoppaholics like me then you definitely are out of money by the 20th of every month, right?
BUT ,money isn't the problem if you are a bit creative and intelligent ...you can have your share of excitement even if you dont have bucks to blow .
A month earlier my friends and i ran out of money by spending it on the college activities ,canteen, hot chocolate (we love it ) etc .....we were on our way to college ,but no one were in a mood to attend college that day .But we dint have money either to hang out at Mc donald's ,K.F.C or movie theatre's . (absolutely poor ). so we began brainstorming !! and we hit the jackpot .

WE WERE FEELING A BIT ADVENTUROUS ! so we collected the money we had in our pockets and it was only 200bucks ... but money was'nt the problem for us .    we decided to go to a temple about 15 kilometres away from our college ...and trust me it has beautiful architecture and serene environment . only 200 bucks = only food -travel expenses
travel expenses would take up a lot of our lunch money ..sooooo....we took a lift !! no not in a car or an auto ...it was a lorry !! and believe me it was an awesome experience
In INDIA the most fav travel game is ofcourse anthakshari ...we began to sing songs and in no time we were there .we then visited the temple ..took many many photographs and left the temple ...and there was loads of time to kill before it was 4 (thats when our college closes ) so on are way back we saw a small lake !! it was not too beautiful but it was worth a visit ..............we did not hav swimming costumes to dive into the lake so we decided to get out feet wet ....
And being people of this generation we got bored and started dancing in the water ....(yes ,in the water ) ....we played songs on a friends phone and started dancing in the water ......we did not care who was around and what they were thinking about us ! we just had a great time !! we must have looked like lunatics to them ...but we enjoyed a lotttt !!

so guys, doesn't matter if you are out of money or you cannot hang out at posh places ,as long you hav a set of crazy friends and a will to embrace your adventure side !!

-AND I AM GLAD THAT I HAVE MY FRIENDS TO PLANT SUCH CRAZY IDEAS IN MY BRAIN !!
